Aviation Operations Team help Meerilinga Children and Family Centre prepare for Children's Week

PlantingMeerilinga Children and Family Centres are a hub for child focussed learning programs and family based services. Each Centre has several services for children and families which include Early Learning programs, Playgroups, Parenting Support and Speech Therapy among others.

On 14 October a team of 10 amazing Woodside Aviation Operation Team volunteers arrived at the Cockburn Centre in order to help prepare the site for the upcoming Children's Week. The Hon. Mayor of Cockburn, Logan K Howlett, was to inaugurate the Children's Week event which would kick off a week of fun and frolic.

The kind and hearty Woodside volunteers were involved in a number of activities in order to have the Centre clean and prepared for the event. This included weeding, mulching, planting pots of flowers, cleaning up shrubs, and more. The team also helped out in cleaning and oiling all the wooden play poles and benches as well as cleaning the windows inside and out.

“[It is] satisfying to provide children a nice learning environment.”

The lovely folks at Meerilinga were absolutely stoked with the efforts put in by the volunteers and the results were clearly there to see with the Centre being well prepared to greet all the guests the following week. The team loved working out in the sun and being part of an overall team based effort. It has provided them an impetus to return for another volunteering effort next year. Can’t wait to see you all then!

“I enjoyed spending the day with the team, great teamwork, great food!!”
