Corporate Affairs at Native ARC 2018

The Corporate Affairs team were very excited to visit Native ARC for their team volunteering day. The team had last visited Native ARC two years ago and upon arriving at the site immediately noticed how much the site had changed over the past two years. It was really gratifying for them to see that the nature walk area that they had planted two years earlier, had now grown and matured and looked settled-in - and it was still being used as part of the education program for visiting schools!

The team had a balanced day, filled with hard work, fun and learning new things about native animals and Native ARC. The team continued to work on the Kangaroo ‘kindy’ demountable that a previous team had started a few weeks ago, and cleaned the residual glue left behind from stripping the lino flooring. Others entered Vinnie the wombat’s enclosure to tackle the ongoing enrichment task that involves relevelling Vinnies enclosure. Once this was complete the team got to watch him pop out and investigate the changes to his burrow - typically Vinnie is displeased to find his home in a shambles - however, this time around he was distracted by food and loving pats from Native ARC volunteer Karen.

After morning tea the team worked on setting up fresh enrichment inside the bird enclosures. The team were quick to formulate a system which involved splitting into groups, with some people collecting logs and twigs, others designing the new set up for the birds and the remaining team members executing the design by hanging new perches and branches throughout the enclosures.

The team were then treated to a Christmas-themed lunch and cuddly meet-and-greet with some lovely Dingoes! The Dingoes loved their company which was a delight to see. The team loved all aspects of the day
