Drilling and Completions at Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective 2018
KMBC aim to develop, promote and protect the mountain bike trail network in Kalamunda and the surrounding area. The organisation rely on the support of volunteer groups and corporate teams like the Drilling and Completions team to help maintain the trails.
After rescheduling this activity due to a very wet August, the Drilling and Completions team got together for their fifth team volunteering day with Kalamunda Mountain Bike Collective (KMBC).
The day started off with a light drizzle but the team of 6 mountain-biker- volunteers were not fussed and instead collected their gloves, shovels and rakes and carried on to get some hard work done on the trail. The goal for the day was to the follow the excavator and tidy up the paths, help build drainage paths that prevent erosion. The team also helped to build jumps at different parts of the track which the team were excited to test out after the volunteering day.
The small group were not disheartened by the rain but in fact motivated to complete the trail so that they could get out on the trail and test the trail out! They were so motivated that they completed ahead of schedule! Shane from KMBC was so pleased with the team’s efforts and thanked the team for their efforts and expressed that he always looks forward to working with the D&C team as they always achieve more than they expect!
