Geoscience Technology planting at Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group

The Geoscience Technology team braved a rainy winters day to volunteer with Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG). The team arrived at the Gosnells site right by Canning River ready to get stuck into some hard work.

Once everyone's gumboots and raincoats were on, Shane, the coordinator at Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group started the day off by speaking to the group about the area and its history. Shane explained to the group that the area was once filled with a diverse range of plants and animals, but due to settlement, farming and urbanisation there has been significant loss in biodiversity as well as a significant decrease in water.

With this in mind the Geoscience Technology team rolled up their sleeves and went straight to work to plant over 1000 native plants. The team achieved all of this within just a few hours, something that would have taken the organisation more than a few days!

The day was finished off with a lovely walk along the Canning River where Shane showed the team the various parts that previous groups had planted. It was valuable to see the difference just a couple of years of growth had done in transforming the area!
