Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre is operated largely by volunteers, employing less than the equivalent of one full-time paid staff member. After working to rescue endangered Black Cockatoos around the State for close to 20 years, Kaarakin’s Board felt the organisation needed to take a closer look at its Health and Safety policies to ensure they were in alignment with best practice and legislative requirements.
