FIFO at Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group

A large crew from the Front line FIFO team were for the first time out at the same site at the same time! This time the site was located south of Perth within the Armadale –Gosnells region and the mission for the day was to support Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group plant as many native seedlings in the wetland area within a few hours. The team chucked on their gardening gloves, grabbed a bucket, filled it with seedlings and dispersed throughout the wetland area. The area was still wet and muddy from the recent months of rain, which made it easy to plant in but very tricky to walk through. RESM Forecasting at Bicycles for Humanity

Six people from the RESM forecasting team arrived at the Bicycles for Humanity workshop ready to learn about how B4H help reduce waste by restoring, fixing and pulling apart bicycles. While B4H’s regularly volunteers arrived and propped themselves up at their stations with a bike and their tools, Jamie provided the team with a background of the WA chapter of Bicycles for humanity. He explained how corporate teams like Woodside together with regular volunteers, school groups and work for the dole volunteers assist B4H achieve their goal of supporting a community in Namibia which is where the B4H social enterprise is set up.

AOU at Homeless Connect Warehouse

A small group from the AOU team visited the Homeless Connect Warehouse to help sort through donations for Homeless Connect Perth. The day started off with Volunteering WA’s CEO Tina Williams welcoming the team at the warehouse and providing the team with a background of HC and its importance to the less privileged. Homeless Connect, a one day event based on a one-stop-shop model of immediate service provision to homeless people, has been held over the last ten years. It connects government agencies, the corporate and community sectors, and volunteers in providing a diverse range of free essential services to people experiencing homelessness.

Woodside Logistics at Meerilinga (Woodvale)

Meerilinga’s Woodvale centre heard of the news that there were Woodside teams eager to lend a helping hand to the community and decided to seize the opportunity and host the logistics team for their team volunteering day. The staff and children of the Meerilinga Woodvale centre had put a wish list of various projects they wanted done which the Woodside team were eager to help with! The day ended with the children and volunteers getting together to celebrate the new space by planting plants in the relocated garden bed. The children yelled out a big thank you to the team and really enjoyed watched the team in red transform their playground.
